Alternately any USB charger will power and/or charge the SDS100 battery. A small separate rechargeable coin like battery that was just to keep the clock going. Normally, they should last a least a few weeks to a few months if the main battery is dead. If the main battery is dead I've had mine work fine 6mo+ later. Your battery could just have lost it's charge most likely. The headphone jack on the sds100 has the lowest output of any scanner I have ever had. I have had lots of scanners in my time.
