The delivery fee helps to cover mileage pay for the drivers (because 30% of people or higher in many places do not tip at all because they are scum bags) but mainly goes to insuring every driver on the road.Their solution was to increase our mileage reimbursement from 32 cents a mile up to 35 cents a mile. Prices go up on gas over 50 cents over night and our company vomits out 3 cents a mile to make up for it. They also increase their delivery fee by $1.50 but give us a whopping extra 3 cents! Then one pizza corporation decided "hey! We can charge the customer directly for our overhead costs!" Prior to 2002, Domino's had free delivery. In 2002 they decided to try a $1 delivery fee to see if customers would revolt. A lot did, but they got away with it. Now we are up to almost $6 for delivery fee and some markets are up to $8 delivery fee. .
